Hi
Hi,
My name is Anne Marie, and I have created this blog to share with you my holistic journey. I am not a mad hippie, and I don't believe that vaccines are crap, cancer can be healed with herbal tea or that we should all leave the cities and go back to living in the nature.
However, I do believe that healing can and should start not at the doctor's office but in getting to know yourself, and looking for the ways to be in your best on your very own. I believe that food has the power to make us sick but also to heal. I believe that disconnecting (quite literally) from the contemporary world, meditation (in all its forms, even if it's just closing your eyes, and taking a few deep breaths) and general activity are essential steps to your well-being. I believe in silence, and in gentleness. I believe in art, in books, and above all in creation - whether it's writing, painting, cooking or knitting.
Life is a miracle. You are a miracle. Think about it for a moment, think about all the big and little miracles that have happened for you to be here right now, able to see, hear, breathe, and feel. Look back to the very first atom of our world, and follow its miraculous journey that has produced you. It might make you feel incredibly small or incredibly big but there's one thing that you should notice -- this life that you have been given, in all its amazingnes, has only been given to you this one, very special time. Be grateful. Cherish. Love.
Think about what creates you right now. About every bite of food that comes into your mouth to recreate you, to build your body and mind everyday a new...
Now, it is thoughts like those what made me embark on my holistic journey and create this site. I'm just taking baby steps around here, looking around, and discovering the fascinating world of holisitic medicine, nutrition, herbalism, natural cosmetics, meditation and yoga. I'm here to share my findings, thoughts and tips. It is basically to become my diary or a journal.
Now, back to earth... I'm a 22 year old graduate student of literature. I was born in Germany to Polish parents, lived in a few different European countries, and now I call Israel my home. I live in Tel Aviv, a city that I love, and like to think that it loves me back.
Up until very recently I really didn't care much about what I eat. I was taking birth control pills and didn't care about their (awful, btw) impact on my yet developing body. I didn't connect my psoriasis to the fact that I was eating a Standard Central European Diet (SCED, I invented this name ;), filled with bread, fatty dairy, meats and a whole lot of sugar. I didn't exercise much and was making fun of people going to the gym.
However, about two years ago, when I started building home with my boyfriend, and cooking at home, I started being more conscious about my food choices. I begun cooking and baking myself, collecting my favorite recipes, and understanding where does our food come from. Slowly, my interests have shifted toward healthier choices, firstly connected with the interest in working out and the protein obsession of the trendy-city-dweller-bodybuilders of our day. Then, it has transformed into understanding how awful the meat, dairy and egg industry is and how very bad for us its produce is.
In my kitchen, it has been more of an evolution than a revolution, and this process have left with a whole lot of thoughts, ideas, and recipes, that I now want to slowly write down, and maybe, someday, share with a wider audience.
Above all, I would like to say, that for me it is all about loving food, loving my body, and loving my home.
