Is AIP for me?

Yes, if you are struggling with any autoimmune disease.

I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is simply looking to make a detox, or start eating more clean. It is, in the end of the day, a very restrictive diet, and it is only successful if followed 100%. 80% of the time won't work here. When you go for it, you have to be completely sure that you know what you're doing, and be confident in your strength. This strength needs to come from within, and be interconnected with your will to heal and live a good life.

If you're not struggling with autoimmune diseases but feel like you're not completely fine, maybe you have some skin problems or feel tired most of the time, I'd recommend you look into ways of making your diet and general lifestyle more healthy, primarily by following some simple rules from my post "Simple steps to feeling great."

Although I do believe that the AIP diet is completely healthy, and can provide you with all the nutrients you need, we do not live in a bubble in which following it for a prolonged period of time would be easy. If you haven't been diagnosed (not by yourself but by a doctor!) with an autoimmune condition, look for easier ways to make you feel great in your body. If a generally healthy diet is not helping, try eliminating certain foods from your diet to check if you're sensitive to them (look at my post "Am I sensitive to this food?").

Above all, remember, you're a separate, amazing human being. There's nobody else in this world exactly like you. What works for one person won't work for somebody else. The fact that your friend who has your disease can eat potatoes and feels great, doesn't necessarily mean that you can also eat potatoes and feel great ;). Find what works for you. Find what feels good. Be at peace with yourself, and never despair. The world is magical, and you're a magical creature that has its rightful place in this universe.
